Death and Weather

I know there is a saying that the only two certainties are death and taxes.

I was in a car coming to the airport this morning, and I felt compelled to talk to the driver.  The only thing I could come up with was “It’s not as cold as I thought it would be.”  He, of course, went on about how the biggest weather issue in the bay area is fog.  I replied that every time I’ve been here the weather is beautiful.  And on and on for about 10 minutes.  After that is was silence for the rest of the drive.

I’ve come to the conclusion that, worldwide, there are two certainties – death and weather.  Those are the only two things everyone has in common.  We are all subject to the atmosphere and time.

I guess death just doesn’t make for good car conversation.
